You can get a remote customer service job without having worked from home before, but read two things in every posting before you apply: whether experience is "preferred" or "required", and what you agree to in return for paid training. We checked three US work-from-home customer service jobs at Foundever on 4 November 2026. A Florida insurance support role starts at $19 an hour, with one year of experience only preferred and the insurance licence paid for, but subject to a licensing repayment agreement. A Texas version of the same job requires one to two years of experience. And an $18-an-hour accounting software role requires QuickBooks experience. This guide walks through each, then covers pay, applications, interviews and following up.
Three US Remote Customer Service Jobs
Foundever is a large outsourced customer service company that hires remote agents for client brands. Its postings are on one board; search by job title and state. Official board: Foundever Jobs.
1. Remote Licensed Insurance Customer Service Representative, Florida
This is the most beginner-friendly of the three. Foundever asks for:
- Age 18 or older, with a high school diploma or GED
- One year of customer service or related experience, preferred, not required
- Open availability including evenings and weekends
- A hardwired high-speed internet connection and a quiet, dedicated workspace
- Your own computer, laptop or compatible tablet during training; a webcam is provided for training
Pay starts at $19 an hour, with paid training at $17 to $18 an hour. Foundever covers the cost of getting your personal lines insurance licence: pre-licensing training, exam prep, testing, licensing fees and the background check. You may need to travel to a testing or fingerprinting location with a state photo ID.
The line most applicants miss: employment is subject to a licensing repayment agreement, which Foundever says it reviews during the offer process. In plain terms, if you leave early you may have to repay some of the licensing cost. Ask for the terms in writing: how much, and for how long it applies.
2. Remote Licensed Insurance Customer Service Representative, Texas
The Texas posting looks similar but asks for more. It requires one to two years of relevant work experience, plus 18 or older and a diploma or GED. You will handle calls about coverage, policy changes and billing, with heavy billing volume around military paydays on the 1st and 15th of each month. Until your Texas licence comes through, you take billing calls only. You use your own computer or tablet (not a Kindle Fire); Foundever ships a headset after you pass the state exam. Pay is $19 an hour, with paid training at $17 to $18.
3. Remote Account Resolution Specialist (Accounting, Tax, Bookkeeping)
This role supports accountants using QuickBooks Online Accountant, by phone, with invoicing, bookkeeping, account setup and payroll questions. It pays $18 an hour for a full-time 40-hour week, with paid training, medical, dental and vision cover and a 401(k) match. Unlike the insurance roles, it requires QuickBooks experience, plus proven customer service experience; QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification is preferred. Being "good with computers" is not enough here.
Remote Customer Service Salary Per Month
At 40 paid hours a week, these rates work out to the following average monthly pay before tax (hourly rate × 40 × 52 ÷ 12):
- $17 an hour (training): about $2,947 a month
- $18 an hour: about $3,120 a month
- $19 an hour: about $3,293 a month
Hours matter as much as the rate. At $19 for 20 hours a week you would earn about $1,647 a month, less than the $18 full-time role. For your first month, ask how many training hours are paid, when the regular rate starts and when the first payday is. Treat bonuses as extra until you know how they are calculated.
How to Apply With No Experience
First, separate "no remote experience" from "no customer experience". A busy checkout, answering parents' questions at a school event, or sorting out missing orders for a family business all show customer skills. Describe unpaid work accurately. If you have never dealt with customers at all, focus on postings like the Florida one where experience is only preferred.
Second, check eligibility before you fill in a long form: where you are allowed to work from, the schedule, training dates and the equipment you must supply. If you live in Pakistan or elsewhere, a Texas remote posting does not let you work from Lahore. Look for employers that hire in your country.
Third, tailor the top of your resume to the channel. For phone support, describe a time you listened carefully and explained the next step. For email support, show you can write a short reply that actually answers the question.
Resume Mistakes to Avoid
"Excellent communication skills" says nothing. "Answered parents' questions about event times, checked changes with the organiser and sent a corrected schedule" gives an interviewer something real to ask about. Name software only if you can explain how you used it. Do not overstate your availability to pass a screening question: if you cannot make daytime training, ask whether there is another training group. And never copy performance numbers from a sample resume.
Phone and Video Interview Tips
Record yourself answering a simple customer question, then listen back without your notes: would a caller know what happens next? For video, make a test call from your real workspace and check the interviewer can hear you while you type.
"A customer says they were charged twice. What would you do?" "I'd acknowledge the concern, follow the account verification steps and check what the two charges show. I'd explain what I can confirm and, if another team needs to investigate, tell the customer exactly what happens next." Do not promise a refund before checking.
"How would you handle a question you couldn't answer?" Use the company's reference material, ask a supervisor when needed, and note the answer for next time. Then ask your own: "During training, who can a new agent contact while a customer is still on the line?"
What to Do After the Interview
Write down the training dates, pay and decision date while you remember them. Send a short thank-you that mentions something specific: "Thank you for explaining how new agents practise billing calls. The training schedule works for me." If the decision date passes, reply once in the same email thread and ask for an update.
Work-From-Home Job Scams to Avoid
The Federal Trade Commission warns that honest employers never ask you to pay to get a job. If a "recruiter" sends a check for a laptop and asks you to pay a supplier, stop: it is a fake-check scam. Find the company's careers site yourself before sharing any personal details.
