Job Description
FMCSA's Training Provider Registry lists the schools allowed to give entry-level driver training, which first-time Class A and Class B CDL applicants must finish before the skills test. Texas CDL knowledge tests have been English-only since 1 June 2026, and a learner permit must be held for 14 days before the skills test.
Requirements
- Class A covers tractor-trailers; Class B covers heavy single trucks
- Heavy truck drivers earned a national median of USD 58,640 in May 2025
- Non-domiciled CDLs in Texas are limited to H-2A workers
